Paid Work Experience is a planned, structured learning experience in a workplace for a limited period of time. Work Experience provides participants with opportunities for skill development. Work Experience can include internships, pre-apprenticeships, job shadowing and short-term job opportunities.

Work Experience should be related to the participant's long-term employment goal. The assessment process will help to identify appropriate worksites for each participant. The assessment process may identify concerns or issues that should be addressed prior to or concurrently with a work experience. Such situations may include completing the GED, attending work-readiness workshops, or completing a preliminary-skills building program.

The employer provides supervision and training to the participant as outlined in the Work Experience Plan Agreement and should be comfortable offering guidance, support, and encouragement to develop the competence and character of the participant.
