EPIC Young Adult Worker Program
We provide services to young adults ages 18 to 24 who have barriers to finding a job or launching a career. At our EPIC Center in downtown Bakersfield, young adults looking for a career or employment can receive help through intensive case management, training services, educational programs, and supportive services. Through paid and non-paid work experience, mentoring, academic support, and career development assistance we can help those entering the workforce.
Services strategies prepare youth for employment and / or post-secondary education through strong linkages between academic and occupational learning.
Strategies must incorporate one or more of the following required youth program elements:
- Tutoring, study skills and dropout prevention
- Alternative education
- Activities to prepare for post-secondary education
- Peer-to-Peer mentoring
- Guidance & career counseling
- Paid and unpaid work experience
- Vocational skills training
- Entrepreneurial skills training
- Leadership development
- Supportive services (transportation, tools, uniforms, etc.)
- Financial literacy education
- Labor market information
- Follow-up services for 12 months
Any person seeking to be served with WIOA funds must be a United States citizen or authorized to work in the United States.
Military Selective Service registration requirements must be met by male participants.
